Determinism and Free will

Let’s talk about stories. Not any kind of story, I want you to think on your story. When & Where, you were born? To whom and with whom? How were your parents with you? How was your childhood? What did you dream of? How was your life like and how is it right now? Do you like where you are now in life right now? Just have a thought on it, pause if you want to.

Now, you have become this wonderful person (trust me you are wonderful). But to become this person, you would have faced a lot of struggles. You had to make a lot of decisions. In everyday life, you are met with so many choices and those choices decide how our life moves. But if we think upon it, how much of a choice do we really have. That is where the concept of free will and determinism comes into play.

What is determinism? What if everything in life is pre-determined? When and where you were born, your parents, your siblings. Life revolves around the situations that you face, the thoughts that arise in your mind, the choices and the decisions you make in life. You might turn out to be an entirely different person if any of the above-mentioned things happened differently. Yes, it is scary at times, to think about the “freedom to choose”. But the thing is, even if it is all pre-determined, one can never know what is determined until it actually happens.

Thus, don’t let yourself be limited by all those things that were not your decisions to make. Instead, now you have the opportunity to choose and create the life that you dream of. Use privileges of your life to your advantage. Instead of blaming the state you are in right now, choose to change your circumstances. What if you achieving, your dreams is what is pre-determined?

Make the hard choices to build the life you want. You can never know if you win or lose until you actually play the game.

Starting Something New

I have been thinking of starting a podcast for more than 2 years now, on and off. I would install all these apps to record something and then something would seem off and I would let those apps simply sit there only to uninstall it all together. This has been happening for several times now. But somehow this time I finally recorded and even uploaded it. Somehow I got the courage to put this out there.

This was all due to the book that I recently read and haven’t even finished it yet. This book simply knocked my head and said to just do it. The book “The power of starting something stupid: How to crush fear, make dreams happen, and live without regret” by Richie Norton starts with a concept of Gavin’s Law. The author’s brother-in-law Gavin seemed to pass away at the age of 21 years just after a few weeks of creating a time capsule. After a few years, the author and his wife had their fourth son whom they named Gavin. Unfortunately, he passed away within 10 weeks of his birth. That’s when the author realized! Life is too short.

We are not gonna live forever – “memento mori”. We all have a clock ticking on our heads, yet we postpone everything in life as if we are gonna live forever. We never know what will happen the very next minute. Yet we choose to shut down our instincts, the nudge to live life the way we want.

So what I intend to say is that just start doing it. However stupid your idea might seem or however complicated it might seem just start with the first step and things will be “figureoutable”.

Will you do the right thing when no one is watching?

Will you do the right thing when no one is watching? Will you love someone knowing that they might never love you back? Will you do the right thing and expect nothing in return?

These are questions to which if we try to answer honestly, most of the times we simply DON’T. We always expect something in return when we give love to others. How often are we good to strangers? Do we smile at strangers? or simply look into our phones and avoid any type of conversation with others. If it’s your partner, you try to sort things out but if it’s someone not so close to you, you are so easy to judge, isn’t it?

Are there even any selfless acts? Okay this is an bigger topic which i would like to cover with another blog. We care others so that they care for us too, isn’t it?

Why god?

I know this is not the exact definition… But i guess it is sufficient, isn’t it? Sometimes it all feels as facade, but sometimes that’s what gives us hope! It’s all individualistic….opinion! No religion or belief is superior from the other! God or no god, it’s all your choice to make! And don’t forget to do your own investigation before you come to any conclusion.

A watching candle!

When you light a candle to let peace flow in, you can’t keep worrying about the candle getting smaller. It is inevitable! 
Similarly, when you are with the people you love, enjoy being with them instead of worrying about the very little time you have with them!

Enjoy being bored!

We procrastinate because we find all other things more enjoyable!

So the only way to survive and succeed in this world, is by learning to enjoy and embrace being bored!

Enjoy being alone! Spend time all by your self, without having a phone to escape boredom, without having people to mindlessly complain or gossip about.

Enjoy failing….enjoy making mistakes….Enjoy learning!

Enjoy being behind… Enjoy being not all figured out…not having everything figured out means, you still have a chance to get into new adventures….Enjoy the different colours and flavours of life

Enjoy the path… Enjoy the uncertainities… Embrace and accept life and everything in it… For how it is… And not how you want it to be!

Whose approval?

Whose approval are you waiting for?

How often do we find ourselves trying so hard to win someone else’s approval! Probably uncountable times, isn’t it? We change ourselves to fit into this world, to make our parents happy, to appear perfect to our loved ones, and what not?

But unfortunately, you can never satisfy others!

Satisfaction is not being perfect but about accepting! You don’t have to prove anything to anyone! Don’t let anyone say otherwise!

You have an innate value of your own. You have an mind of your own, that works like no one else’s. So just hold on to that uniqueness.

You don’t anyone’s approval to be happy, to chase your dreams, to live! Do it in your own way…….!
