Why Journaling?Because…Why not?

There are already enough videos and writings stating about the importance of journaling. If that hasn’t convinced you already, hope this really gets you to start journaling right away.

I can’t really express in words as in how much journaling has helped me in the past years and it still has got my back. In simple words, consider journaling like whining to your best friend. Often we all need to be listened to non judgmentally. It’s not about getting the solutions, it’s only about letting your feelings, frustrations and emotions out. The moment you let it all out, it feels as if the burden has left you.

You are giving a physical form to your mental thoughts. When it is in your head, it’s probably in some twisted energy that you cannot get a hold on, but when it is transformed into words, it obtains a physical form and leaves your body for good.

As you start writing you can feel those unclear thoughts and emotions turning into something figureoutable. You start to pour out things that you never knew were bothering you. When you go for morning pages, you can really feel this. When you start entering into a flow, deep thoughts and emotions start to reveal. It can help you towards self realisation, enhance your self awareness and improve your mental health several folds.

Okay, so now if you are thinking, that you have your friends/partner to whine about your problems. Then, let me tell me one thing. There will be times, when your self esteem would be so low, you may feel like your thoughts and emotions are silly or invalid or it’s all a bunch of stupid things that you would be ashamed of and you wouldn’t wanna share it with anyone. Or often you wouldn’t wanna bother anyone with the same things again and again. Slowly you will start to shut down yourself and you will stop expressing it at all. During those times a journal can help you by being a non judgemental friend who only listens.

Moreover, when we talk about our problems or emotions and thoughts to someone, there replies or responses affects our mindset, let it be positive or negative. But a journal is a neutral friend who doesn’t talk back or lay their opinions on us. It’s completely you on your own. But a journal does talk back. It’s you vs you. Your two opposite sides would have an conversation. While sitting to journal, you could enter a meditative state, which connects you towards your deep inner mystic self, that takes you to a different state all together. Trust me, it’s calming and liberating. But again, there would be days, when there would be nothing really to pour out, but still make it a habit to journal everyday at a particular time and place based on your comfort and needs.
